Yes? - So did Julie and Garry when day tripping and holidaying with their young family!

This was our guiding principle when we took over the Brixham Fish Restaurant in 2004 - to offer high quality fish and chips at good value in an amazing location, while still treating everybody like a local. As a traditional fish and chip shop we peel and cut our own potatoes and make our own fresh mushy peas every day.

To this day we have still been serving fabulous fish and chips staying true to our original goals 15 years ago.

We've built a reputation in the area with the local and fishermen alike and are probably known best as Garrys fish and chips. So if anyone recommends you go to Garrys - its us! See Garry in action above!

Restaurant open from 11:30am, last orders typically 8pm

Beautiful harbour views

From our first floor 90 seat restaurant, you can enjoy your freshly cooked to order fish and chips overlooking the stunning, historic Brixham harbour - you can even see the Golden Hind! Watch the ferry boats arrive from Torquay and see the busy fishing port in action, if you're lucky you might even see the dolphins or seals. We're a popular spot for day trippers, hikers and walkers as we're the perfect place to grab some lunch if you're following the South West Coastal Path, we are even dog friendly!

History & Experience

Owner Garry has been frying fish and chips for over 25 years, starting in Paignton, then opening our first shop in Torquay in 1997 and then coming to Brixham in 2004 to take over the Brixham Fish Restaurant. The building was the original ice house for the local fishing industry but has been a fish and chip shop since the 1950s.

You can enjoy a wide range of chilled wines, beers and spirits. We are also proud to offer many local options; lagers and ales from the multiple award winning family run Bays Brewery, Taste of the West Gold award winning South Hams Brewery ciders, or even the full range of premium quality small batch gins from Brixham Gin - hand crafted just 0.1 miles up the road! (You couldn’t get more local than that!)

Our cafe and restaurant both serve freshly ground Lavazza coffee.

Unfortunately our ground floor Cafe is temporarily closed, but we hope to be open to serve you again soon.

We’ve taken steps to adopt Covid safety measures in our restaurant, takeaway and cafe; Screens have been installed at every table, Hand sanitiser is available on entry, Disposable menus, Sanitised condiments and Visors on our front of house serving staff.
